Tour Marketing Timeline: From Announce to Doors

30 June 2026 · 6 min read

Ticket sales are front-loaded and back-loaded, with a long soft middle. The campaign has to be built for all three shapes, and the first 72 hours after on-sale set the tone for everything after.

8 to 12 weeks before on-sale: build

Announce creative, routing assets, presale codes, fan-club segmentation, and local press briefed under embargo. Everything must be finished before announce, because there is no time to make it afterwards.

Announce and on-sale: front-load

Presales, countdowns, and priority windows exist to concentrate demand into the first 72 hours. A strong opening creates the scarcity story that carries the soft middle.

The sustain phase: always-on

Weekly ticket-count triage per market, always-on paid, and local media weighted to where the data says demand is real. This is where most campaigns go quiet and most inventory goes unsold.

Final two weeks: close out

A dedicated push on remaining inventory per date, with urgency creative and local radio. Afterwards, capture the buyer database — it is the single most valuable asset the tour produces for the next cycle.
